About the data
Florida License Lookup puts the licenses of three state agencies in one search. Every record comes from a public file the state posts for download, reloaded every week.
Where the records come from
- Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). One licensee file per board: real estate sales associates, brokers and companies; cosmetologists, nail, facial and full specialists and salons; barbers and barbershops; contractors and electrical contractors; real estate appraisers; community association managers; architects, interior designers and landscape architects; veterinarians; home inspectors, building code administrators and inspectors; mold assessors and remediators; auctioneers; geologists; asbestos consultants; athlete agents; employee leasing companies; and harbor pilots. DBPR's files list current licenses, including those suspended or on probation.
- Department of Financial Services (DFS). Every valid insurance license: agents, adjusters, customer representatives and agencies, with each line of authority and the date it was issued. DFS publishes valid licenses only, so expired insurance licenses don't appear.
- Department of Health (DOH). Every health care license the department has issued, past and present: nurses, doctors, pharmacists, dentists, therapists, counselors, EMTs and paramedics, massage therapists and more than 150 other license types. For doctors, osteopathic physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and advanced practice nurses, we also show final disciplinary actions from the department's practitioner profile files.
What we leave out
The state files include street addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and, for health licenses, birth-year ranges. Many licensees list their home, so we don't publish any of these. Pages show the city and county only.
We also leave out records that aren't licenses of a person or business, such as continuing-education courses and providers.
Same-name matches
The state agencies don't share an ID number, so when a license page lists other licenses "under this name," they share the same name and city of record and nothing more. Two different people can share a name. Check the license numbers if it matters.
How current it is
We reload every file once a week. The agencies update their own systems daily, so a change made in the last few days may show up there before it shows up here. The date at the bottom of each page is our last update.
